Intermittent closures expected as construction continues along the Escondido Creek Trail

Upcoming work:

This week, crews will continue cable railing installation along the south side of the Creek Trail between Broadway and Juniper Street. Work will also progress on the irrigation system between Juniper and Fig Street, along with ongoing electrical work.

Crack sealing and seal coating will commence in the coming weeks, with full day trail closures each day between Harmony Grove and Quince Street during coating application. Trenching operations from Juniper to Fig will result in some closures to ensure the safety of trail users. Flaggers will be on site to direct trail users during these temporary closures.

Additional work scheduled over the next three weeks includes:

Demolition of the existing asphalt maintenance road onthe north side of the creek from Date Street to Ash Street.
Placement of geotextile fabric and decomposed granite, clear and grub activities and excavation for new walkways.
Fine grading and forming for new concrete walkways.

Please pay attention to road signs in the area for the most up-to-date information on Creek Trail access.

Recently completed:

Last week, crews began installing cable railing along the south side of the Creek between Juniper and Hickory Street. Steel fencing installation also began on the south trail between Broadway and Juniper Street.

Meanwhile, work continued on both the western half and eastern half of the project, including trail boundary marking and utility location work. Seal coating will be applied in the coming weeks to the western half of the project to help extend pavement life.

About the project:

Construction for the Escondido Creek trail began in February 2025. Work will take place from Citracado Parkway to North Midway Drive, with construction generally moving from west to east. The project is expected to be completed in late 2025, pending any unforeseen delays. Construction hours are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with the exception of city-recognized holidays.
