The Downtown Escondido Makeover Continues: Grand Avenue

Construction updates

Major Milestone: Final Phase Begins!
We're excited to announce the start of Subphase 3, this marks the final stage of the Grand Avenue Vision Project Phase II. With this milestone, we're on track for full project completion in Spring 2025.

This Week's Progress:

  • Landscaping teams will begin planting trees along Subphase 1
  • Installation of decorative fencing continues in completed areas
  • Kalmia traffic circle now open, restoring access between Juniper and Kalmia

Traffic Alerts: Motorists should be aware that the Broadway and Grand intersection is now closed as part of Subphase 3 construction. Please use Valley Parkway or 2nd Avenue as detour routes and plan for extra travel time. The Broadway intersection will also be closed to pedestrian traffic. Please be aware of all signage and remain on the designated pedestrian walkways. While we're pleased to announce the Kalmia traffic circle is now open and restoring access between Juniper and Kalmia, please note that the section from Kalmia to Maple will remain closed until project completion. Watch for temporary signage in all affected areas.

Looking Ahead: Our teams will continue focusing on beautification elements in completed sections while pushing forward with final construction work. We remain on schedule for the Spring 2025 completion. Thank you for your continued interest in the Grand Avenue Vision Project. Your patience during construction helps us create a more vibrant downtown for everyone to enjoy.
