The Downtown Escondido Makeover Continues: Grand Avenue

Construction updates

Following the holiday slowdown, construction activities have resumed at full capacity. Starting Monday, January 13, crews will begin laying base pavement, marking the beginning of the final stages of Subphase 2. Weather permitting and barring any major delays, street striping is scheduled to begin by the end of January. Once the striping is complete, two significant traffic changes will occur:

  • The new traffic circle on Kalmia will open
  • Through traffic will resume between Kalmia and Juniper

On January 27, we will begin construction on Subphase 3. Work will focus on the south side of the street between Broadway and Maple, including the installation of a new traffic circle at Broadway. Traffic control signs will be installed before construction begins. For everyone's safety, please observe and follow all posted traffic signs and directions.
