Construction along Grand Avenue: Subphase two construction of new roundabout

Construction Updates

Last week, the contractor began concrete work on the new roundabout at Grand Ave and Kalmia. Construction of the roundabout is expected to be near completion by the end of the week. Through traffic will remain closed during construction.

In observance of the upcoming holidays, there will be no construction activities from December 23 - 25, 2024 and December 30, 2024 - January 1, 2025. For public safety, please stay on designated walkways and remain aware of all traffic control signage, whether construction is actively taking place or not.

Construction updates will resume in the New Year.

'Tis the season to support local

The holidays are right around the corner so be sure to check out downtown Escondido's Holiday Market on December 21, 2024 from noon - 4 p.m. for last minute gifts. Find unique treasures and enjoy the festive atmosphere as you help support local businesses and artisans.

Looking for some holiday fun with your family, significant other, or friends? Stop by the roller rink along Grand Ave. between Juniper and Kalmia for a wallet friendly adventure. Admission to the rink is $5 and $5 to rent skates, unless you bring your own. The roller rink is open Thursday and Friday from 4-8 p.m., Saturday 12-8 p.m., and Sunday 12-4 p.m. until the end of December.

Grand Avenue General Construction Details

The Grand Avenue Vision Project is all about preserving Escondido’s historic small-town look and feel while infusing new energy and vibrancy into the heart of Escondido. This exciting initiative aims to transform Grand Avenue into a welcoming and pedestrian-friendly corridor and boost the economic vitality of our downtown area. 

Construction Hours and Details

Construction will take place Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. During the construction of Phase II, Grand Avenue will be closed to through traffic. However, pedestrian access will remain open to all businesses.

Free parking is available throughout the duration of the project and can be found using the interactive parking map. Please be sure to observe all traffic control signs and do not move traffic cones or barriers. To help protect public safety, please remain on the designated pedestrian walkways.
