Escondido Creek Trail Temporary Closures and Access - This Week's Updates

Construction continues along the Creek Trail, with active work zones throughout the project area. Here's what you can continue to expect over the next two weeks: 

  • Installation of cable railing between Rose Street and Midway Drive.
  • Installation of light poles and foundations from Ash to Date Streets, including electrical connections at Washington Park.
  • Grading and placement of decomposed granite and curbs at Beech and Date Streets, and Washington Park.
  • Pedestrian ramp construction at Elm Street.
  • Demolition and preparation work for improvements at Date Street and additional north side trail segments.
  • Installation of irrigation valves, boxes and lines between Rose Street and Midway Drive.
  • Installation of light poles and their foundations from Ash to Date Streets, and installation of pole bases between Harding and Rose Streets, including electrical connections at Washington Park.
  • Utility adjustments to lower fiber optic boxes and blow-off valves.
  • Fence installation at select trail locations.

Trail users should anticipate the following impacts: 

  • There will be periodic closures between Rose Street and Midway Drive for cable railing installation.

Adjacent projects: Emergency Truck Sewer Replacement: 

  • Emergency repairs continue and are near the Creek Trail project limits.
  • Crews began work on Fig Street on Tuesday, Sept. 2, causing a full closure of the Fig Street bridge for approximately one month.

Please pay attention to road signs in the area for the most up-to-date information on Creek Trail access. 

Recently completed 

Crews continue to make steady progress along the Escondido Creek Trail, completing several key improvements over the past few weeks: 

  • Cable railing installation between Rose Street and Midway Drive.
  • Pull boxes installed between Ash and Harding Streets.
  • Fence posts installation between Rose and Harding Streets.

About the project 

Construction for the Escondido Creek trail began in February 2025. Work will take place from Citracado Parkway to North Midway Drive, with construction generally moving from west to east. The project is expected to be completed in late 2025, pending any unforeseen delays. Construction hours are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with the exception of city-recognized holidays.
