On January 13, 2025 at 6:35am, units from the Escondido Fire Department were dispatched to a reported residential structure fire near the 800 block of East 2nd Ave. in Escondido. The first Engine Company arrived to find a small single-story home with moderate smoke coming from the roof and multiple areas of the eves.
Firefighters were able to quickly investigate and determine fire in one wall of the interior as well as spreading to the attic. The fire was quickly extinguished, firefighters spent valuable time opening interior walls and ceiling searching for any hidden fire.
No civilians or Firefighters were injured during the incident. However, 3 adults and 1 child were displaced due to the damage. Additional assistance was provided by Escondido Police Department and SDG&E. Escondido Fire Investigators are working to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
