On Saturday, June 22, at 18:08, North Comm Dispatch received multiple calls of a fire in a commercial strip mall in Escondido. A large column of smoke was visible from a distance, and the call was upgraded to a working commercial fire. The first units arrived at 310 Andreasen Dr. and found a well-established fire in multiple suites of a commercial building. Quick actions by firefighters prevented the fire from consuming the entire building. However, fire heavily damaged four suites, and four were saved.
Due to the fire's growth and size, a third alarm was declared, and units from multiple agencies responded to assist. Units from Escondido, San Marcos, Vista, Rancho Santa Fe, and Deer Springs were utilized, and Escondido PD provided traffic control.
The incident required 13 engines, 2 trucks, 3 ambulances, 3 battalion chiefs, 1 light and air unit, and 1 USAR in total.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. No injuries to firefighters or civilians were reported.
