On May 25, 2024, at approximately 12:40 AM, units of the Escondido Fire Department were dispatched to a reported structure fire on Valley Grove Lane in the City of Escondido. The first arriving Engine Company reported smoke coming from the attic of a two-story home. Firefighters initiated an aggressive interior attack with multiple hose lines in the residence.
The attic fire quickly grew causing the structure to become unstable. Firefighters were forced to exit the structure and take a defensive approach to containing the fire. It took 25 firefighters nearly 2 hours to contain the fire due to the size of the structure and heavy fire load.
No Firefighters were injured while fighting the fire. The homes owner safely exited the structure and was uninjured. Multiple agencies assisted with the stabilization of this incident including the Escondido Police Department, San Marcos Fire Department, and SDG&E.
