On February 27, 2025 at approximately 4:26 p.m., North Com Dispatch Center received a report of an apartment fire located in the area of the 1500 block of S. Escondido Blvd. A structure fire response was dispatched. The first arriving engine reported smoke coming from a second-floor patio of a three-story building. Due to the potential for the fire to spread and the threat to life and property additional resources were requested.
Aggressive action by the firefighters contained and controlled the fire in approximately 20 minutes. The apartment sustained minor damage to the upstairs bedroom and minor water damage to the downstairs apartment. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians. In all 5 fire engines, 2 trucks, 1 rescue ambulance and 2 Battalion Chiefs responded to the fire.
Escondido Police Units provided road closures.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
