Robbie Ash Doherty

Robbie Ash Doherty, owner and operator of the Jump ‘N Gym gymnastics program, has been teaching children from the East Coast to the West Coast for over 25 years. She moved to North County after graduating with a physical education degree from San Francisco State University. The sport of gymnastics has been a major part of her life since childhood. As a young child, she trained with the then women’s Olympic gymnastics coach, Muriel Grossfeld. The sport of gymnastics played a key role in her springboard diving abilities, which helped propel her to place 12th in the State of Connecticut the very first year she competed in that sport.

Robbie’s involvement in developing her own program stems from college training. Instead of becoming a P.E. teacher, she decided to take the idea of the basis of all sports, gymnastics, and introduce it to communities via a mobile program. Her vans are loaded with all the equipment needed to develop motor movement skills: mats, bars, beams, trampolines, blocks, hills, along with balls, hoops, ropes and whatever she can use that would help a child develop skills to use in any type of sport. She contracts out to other community centers, schools, and enrichment programs to bring affordable, top-quality instruction in the Olympic sport of gymnastics to the children of the community. Robbie hopes to connect with and enhance your child’s life by giving him/her the opportunity to explore and develop large motor movement skills in a safe, positive, and very fun atmosphere. Robbie resides on the coast with her husband and family of four boys all of which are very involved in their own particular sports as well.
